New Installation
Question:
Do I need a permit to install a new Fire Extinguishing System?
Answer:
Yes, all new installations of Automatic Extinguishing Systems require plans & must be submitted to the local jurisdiction to be permitted.
The installers, testers or service personnel should be certified by the State Fire Marshal & or Contractors State License Board. All new installations must pass final test with Fire Department Inspector. The Inspector checks the two ways of the system activation & other requirements, like K-Class Extinguishers.

How often should Automatic Extinguisher Systems be serviced?
Answer:
All Automatic extinguishing systems – Fire Suppression Systems need to be serviced at least every 6 months or after System activation. (NFPA 17A, 7.3)
Fire Extinguisher

How often do Fire Extinguishers need to be serviced?
Answer:
All Fire Extinguishers need to be serviced at least every 12 months or after use. If the Extinguisher is leaking, it should be serviced immediately. Every month the Fire Extinguisher should be visually inspected by the property owner or authorized personnel.
